Question: Are Meteorologists prophets of god?
Many Christians tend to think that every significant storm is “God telling us something”.

So does that mean Meteorologists or TV weatherman are prophets of god?

Question: do all meteorologists make forecasting mistakes?

Answer:

Answer by linlyons
of course.
weather forecasting is not an exact science.
some make more mistakes than others, not because they are worse, but because the area for which they are forecasting has weather that is more unpredictable.

eg, i might forecast that the weather in San Francisco, next July 4th would have a low in the mid-high 50s, and a high around 70. the fireworks would likely be mostly obscured by the low clouds coming into the bay.

and i’d be correct 70% of the time.
you’d be very hard pressed to be as accurate, only a week away, from many areas of the country.

Question: Ok meteorologists and people in the path…?
What did you think of that storm today that marched from the midwest all the way to West Virginia before it finally gave up after it hit the mountains?

I barely got brushed with rain in mountain Maryland but man, it came down for a while.

Secondary questions, did it look like a hurricane to you and do you think any research will be done on this storm?

Bonus question: Did you get hit from it? If so, what did you get?

Answer:

Answer by cyswxman
I watched the system initiate last night over western Kansas, then track eastward through the day. Very nice system we refer to as a mesoscale convective complex (MCC). It did go on to form a convectively induced vorticity maximum which gave it its’ hurricane-like appearance. These types of thunderstorm collections do occu from time to time mainly in the late springs and summers. I’m sure it was well recorded and will be analyzed by researchers. It did not affect me here in Wyoming.

Question: would meteorologists frequently study viruses?
why or why not? plzz explain
dont give me examples

Answer:

Answer by Dance
No, but epidemiologists who study viruses sometimes study meteorology, For example, it’s believed that the devastating outbreak of hoof and mouth disease in the UK in 2000 was caused by winds blowing viral particles all the way from Africa. You always can have meteorology without studying viruses, but sometimes you can’t have virology without studying meteorology.

Question: I have a few questions about tornados. Are there any meteorologists that can answer these?
Please answer each question individually along with number. ONLY ANSWER IF YOU ARE A PROFESSIONAL AT TORNADOS!. thank you.

1. Can tornadoes form when it’s raining?

2. can they form at night?

3. I live in nebraska, when is Tornado season over for nebraska?

4. is there always hail before a tornado?

5. Just tell me all random crap you know about tornados. lol. XD;;;

arigato!!! <3

Answer:

Answer by Marcia M
I am not a meteorologist, but I live in tornado alley and I know the answers to several of these questions.
1. a tornado can form while its raining, some are called rain wrapped.
2. tornados do form any time of day and night.

3. I don’t know this answer

4. There is not always hail
5. some random stuff, it makes a distinctive sound, have a place below ground to go for safety, and Under a bridge is not a safe place. If you have tornado sirens, take cover when you hear them, If you live in a manufactured home (trailer) find other shelter when you know a tornado is coming, trailers have been known to be twisted, like wringing a wet cloth. I’ll probably think of more later.

Question: are there alot of jobs in the Meteorologists feild?

Answer:

Answer by Nickā„¢
It is not a career that is really in high demand but, there are lots of tv stations that seem to hire new meteorologists every 6 months or so. It is always worth checking out though I myself am trying to work my way up to becoming a meteorologist. You might want to just check with your local National Weather Service office at www.weather.gov and see if they have any openings there are a number of companies that hire meteorologists besides the ones I have mentioned. Feel free to contact me if you need anything.

I would not be surprised to see a few storms wandering over western Ohio this evening. The chance that one of them it would hit your particular location looks quite small, and it does not look like any of the storms will be severe.

Question: does the national park service hire meteorologists?

Answer:

Answer by Piggiepants
You can look at their web site, under the careers page, to see the types of jobs available. It seems unlikely they would hire a meteorologist – they’d rely on information from the National Weather Service (who probably DO hire meteorologists).
